Sodium Scanner

Privacy Policy

Last updated 30 September 2026

Sodium Scanner reads photos of food labels and packets and tells you whether the food is low, moderate or high in sodium. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.

No account, no tracking

The app has no sign in and no account. It contains no advertising, no analytics and no tracking of any kind. We do not collect your name, email, location, contacts or device identifiers.

Photos

The app uses your camera or photo library only when you choose to scan. Reading a nutrition label happens entirely on your device and the photo does not leave your phone.

If you tap one of the AI options and agree to the prompt shown before your first AI request, the photo and any text read from it are sent to Google Gemini, an AI service operated by Google, to produce the assessment. Google processes this data under the Gemini API Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. Nothing else about you is sent with it. You can withdraw this permission at any time on the About and Privacy screen in the app.

Scan history

Your scan results (not the photos) are saved only on your device so you can look back at them. They are never uploaded. You can delete them at any time from the app, and deleting the app removes them.

Children

The app does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.

Health information

Sodium Scanner is a general guide to food choices. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
